Advisory Neighborhood Commission 7D 1/10/2017 Meeting

 

ANC 7D Elected Officers and hosted Max Brown from Events DC for a discussion on the future of RFK

 

  1. The meeting was called to order at 6:40pm by Chairperson Muhammad.

A quorum was established.

 

  1. ELECTION OF OFFICERS.

    1. The commission began nominations for officers.

Commissioner Douglas Nominated Commissioner Sherice Muhammad for Chair, Commissioner Hasan Seconded.
The motion passed 5-0-0.

 

Commissioner Lini Nominated Commissioner Siraaj Hasan for Vice Chair, Muhammad Seconded
The motion passed 5-0-0.

 

Commissioner Hasan Nominated Commissioner Justin Lini for Secretary, Muhammad Seconded.

The motion passed 5-0-0.

 

Commissioner Douglas Nominated Commissioner Justin Lini for Treasurer, Commissioner Lini declined.

 

Commissioner Hasan Nominated Commissioner Prue for Treasurer, Commissioner Prue declined.

 

Commissioner Douglas Nominated herself for Treasurer. There was not a second.

Commissioner Lini moved to table the vote for Treasurer and discussion of the Security Fund until following reports. Muhammad Seconded.
The motion passed 5-0-0.

Commissioner Lini Nominated Commissioner Dorothy Douglas for Sergeant at Arms. Commissioner Douglas declined.

 

Commissioner Hasan Nominated Commissioner JoAnne Prue for Sergeant at Arms. Commissioner Muhammad Seconded.
The motion passed 5-0-0.

 

  1. ADOPTION OF PROPOSED NEW ANC 7D AGENDA FORMAT

     

    1. Commissioner Bob Coomber arrived.

       

    2. Commissioner Douglas moved to place DC Government updates and community concerns at the start of the meeting, following the Call to Order. Commissioner Hasan Seconded.
      The motion passed 6-0-0

 

  1. UPDATES FROM THE MAYOR’S OFFICE, WARD 7 COUNCILMEMBER, MPD, DCPS, DCPL

    1. Lieutenant Ronny Arce provided an update on behalf of MPD 6th District. Lt. Arce stated that the “6D ended 2016 with a 12% reduction of crime after a successful 2015 reduction of crime.” The Lieutenant stated that MPD relied on its relationships with the community and encouraged attendees to meet their officers. He also indicated MPD would be fully staffed during the inauguration.

Lt. Arce took questions regarding police data, marijuana decriminalization, the inauguration, and robberies on Benning Road

 

    1. Adrian Sutton provided an update on behalf of the Mayor’s Office. Mr. Sutton provided information on DPW’s Holiday Tree pickups, SWEEP, and DC’s snow removal laws.

      Mr. Sutton took a question on litter cleanups.

       

    2. Sandra Lee provided an update on behalf of Councilmember Vincent C. Gray. Ms. Lee introduced herself as the Councilmember’s Staff Assistant and scheduler. Her email is slee@dccouncil.us and phone number is 202-724-8068.

      Ms. Lee took questions regarding the Councilmember’s Summit and future Community Meetings

 

  1. PRESENTATIONS

    1. Max Brown, Chairman of the Board of Directors for Events DC presented an update on the Redevelopment of the RFK Campus.

Commissioner Hazel Arrived.

    1. Celeste Duffie and Reginald May gave a presentation on DC’s Snow Shoveling Law and Exemptions for senior property owners.

 

  1. REPORTS

     

    1. Commissioner Lini moved to table the Transportation Committee Report. Commissioner Muhammad seconded.
      Motion passed 7-0-0.

       

  2. ELECTION OF COMMISSION 7D TREASURER

     

    1. Commissioner Hasan Nominated Commissioner Bob Coomber for Treasurer, Commissioner Lini seconded.
      The motion passed 7-0-0.

       

  3. ANC SECURITY FUND 2017

     

    1. Commissioner Lini moved to participate in the ANC Security Fund for 2017. Commissioner Coomber seconded

The motion passed 7-0-0.

    1. Commissioner Muhammad moved to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Douglas seconded.
