Our neighborhood is in a unique position when it comes to new development. We have empty land and an investor with a plan already approved by the District. This development has the potential to bring new resources and more services to our community. At the same time, we need to make sure that our voices are heard, and that whatever goes in doesn’t harm the people already living here.
I will advocate for new grocery stores in ANC 7D, and in particular in the neighborhoods west of 295. According to research conducted by The DC Promise Neighborhood Initiative, many residents have to travel more than 30 minutes each way for access to fresh and healthy food.
